There is no doubt that marketing any business is an inevitable part to survival and success in business however, how you do things in your marketing efforts and business operations is the underlying factor that will determine whether you attract the right sort of people for your business and whether the clients you attract become loyal or seek out another provider.

There are many questions that need to be answered when starting a business in order to survive let alone succeed when it comes to being professional and doing things the right way.

Most of the time, the first thoughts are how to get clients or customers fast then comes the issue of marketing and promotion to attract even more clients and customers.

In doing all these what many professionals forget or overlook is the issue of their etiquette and how it affects their overall performances in their business.

There is no doubt that marketing any business is an inevitable part to survival and success in business however, how you do things in your marketing efforts and business operations is the underlying factor that will determine whether you attract the right sort of people for your business and whether the clients you attract become loyal or seek out another provider.

As an entrepreneur starting your own business, this becomes even more difficult because you are practically unknown in the market and need to establish yourself as an expert and a reputable professional in order to attract the sort of clients you desire.

Below are 5 tips that will help you do exactly that and to take off in business on the right footing:

Tip1: Know your netiquette: In the world we live in, any business that does not take advantage of the on line world is leaving money on the table. However in as much as you need to take advantage of it, it is even worse for the business owner who does not pay attention to his or her netiquette. So know how to address people on line, make sure your express yourself well to be understood and avoid slogans and jargons if you want to project a professional image in your on line communication. And these are just a few of many ways to practice proper netiquette.

Tip 2: Dress for success: As an entrepreneur, wherever you go and whatever you do, you are in business because you will never know who you may meet who could be the gateway to your business breakthrough. That is why you must be conscious of how you are dressed at all times. No matter where you go, you must always try to inspire trust, look confident, professional, welcoming and in control. People naturally respond to authority so dress the part to inspire trust that can help you overtake your competitors.

Tip 3: Be conscious of how you promote yourself: As a new business owner, there is the tendency to want to tell everybody you meet about your business and what great services you have to offer. Warning: Not everybody cares about your business and what you have to offer. Note that people are attracted to others who are willing to listen to them rather than someone who is all about him or herself. Learning the art of conversations and conversation faux pas will help you to avoid creating such negative impressions when you are new in business.

Tip 4: Get social etiquette: One great way to get known in your business is to get out there and get noticed. Simply put, socializing will do your business a great deal of good if you do it the right way. You are better off if all you do when socializing is drink your head off, or pushing your business card into people’s hands when they introduce themselves to you. Know when it is right to give out your business card at social events and avoid drinking too much to in order not to create the wrong impression that will affect your business negatively. Also in conversations, avoid certain topics such as politics, religion, expensive jokes and the like in order not to make people start avoiding you in any social event.

Tip 5: Horn your social networking etiquette: The trend in small business today is the leverage of cost effective social networking to find and win clients and customers. However when not done right there are many negative implications and for that reason many are those who have not been able to make the most out of social networking among other marketing mistakes and ignorances.
It is important that you know who to approach and how to approach them, show respect at all times, respect people’s personal space on line and show consideration and care at all times.

These are just a few of the things that can get you on the right footing when starting out in business.

Most people have fears about starting and maintaining a business. Fear will cause you to procrastinate and constantly put things off, including starting a business.

Most people have fears about starting and maintaining a business. Fear will cause you to procrastinate and constantly put things off, including starting a business. If this happens, eventually you will find out that anything you start you never finish. It is important to deal with your fears so that you can get things accomplished and be able to move on with your life.

Listed below are the top ten fears people have about going into business.

1) Lack of financial resources such as obtaining loans

2) Record keeping and taxes

3) Lack of self confidence

4) Lack of self-esteem

5) Finding trustworthy employees

6) Business Failure such as bankruptcy

7) Security

8.) Lack of knowledge on starting a business

9) Rejection such as too much time away from family members and friends

10) Long hours/hard work

Just like anything else that you are afraid of doing, you will stay away from it. For example, some people are afraid to fly so they stay away from airplanes and they use other means of transportation to get them where they want to go. Even though it takes them longer for them to get to their destinations, the fear of flying keeps some people from boarding an airplane. A few people do get enough courage to face their fears head on and take that first airplane flight, while many others dont because of fear. Those who take their first flight will say later than it was not bad at all and that they do not know why they were so afraid to fly. What I am saying is that your fear is real and it can stop you from doing a lot of things including starting and running your own business.

Make a list of the fears that you believe have caused you to put off starting your own business. Once you have control over your fears, you will be more successful with starting and managing your business.

William Shakespeare once penned that a rose by any other name would still smell as sweet and when starting your own business the name you choose may be a determining factor of its success. Many businesses today use catchy names, some of them are really weird in trying to make sure their name stands out among the others. This sounds similar to the old marketing claim that it does not matter what the press says about a person, just spell the name right.

For companies with hefty competition, this may not be the best approach when choosing a name for a new business, home or otherwise. In many instances, the business owner might be able to use their own name as part of their new business name, but for most consumers looking for a specific product or service, identifying a persons name as being a possibility for offering what they are looking for and miss out on a lot of business.

When sitting down to write your business plan the first thing you will need is a name. To help come up with the perfect name for your business, consider how you will most likely advertise and market the business. Print ads and broadcast ads will require a different approach. A name that makes sense in the phone book or newspaper ad may not sound as good if it is difficult to pronounce on the radio. Additionally, names that require a dash or two, or have other punctuation marks go well in print, but they are hard to relate through a radio ad.

No matter how you feel about your pet, unless your business is selling pet supplies naming the business after a canine or feline may not accurately tell the public what they can expect to find in your business. If your advertising will consist mostly of internet advertising, keeping it simple generally works best, but it should also relate in some way to the industry of your business.

Look at the names used by your competition and consider how likely you are to equate the business name with the product or service they are offering. For example, a printing supply store with a name like Under The Sun may say to the owner that they carry everything under the sun, but customers in need of paper or ink might think they sell tanning supplies or swim wear. As tough as it is to find a new name, it is something that will require some brainstorming to get the right one to fit the business.

Avoid negative connotations in the name. While they can sometimes seem cute and make people snicker when they read them, they may not present the type of professional attitude you are really trying to convey. Once you have settled on a name, research trademarked names to be sure you do not infringe on an established business. Going back to the drawing board will be cheaper than having to reprint all of your stationary, business cards and pay to redesign a new logo for your website.

So, since we’re constantly creating new companies and we’re too cheap to hire a lawyer, we searched out the best online service for registering companies (LLC , C-Corp, S-Corp) and doing research on trademarks and business names. The winner? MyCorporation.com - hands down.

MyCorporation is an Intuit company so you know they’re legit and not some fly-by-night website. They have a really well put together website that makes it easy to figure out what you want to do and how to do it. And their rates are very reasonable with a number of different packages including a free level (although we’d recommend that package only for your very minor companies).

We’ve written up a full MyCorporation review over at SmallBizTools.com. Read what real serial business starters have to say about why they use MyCorporation to register their companies.

For a company to go down the road of franchising itself there has been a lot of debate as in essence the owners of the organisation have to give up some of the day to day management if they select this method of expansion. It is in the owners best interests that the finest candidates are selected to be franchisees as this will make the most of their decision to Low Cost Franchise.

Sometimes owners of an organisation decide to adopt the services of a franchise company to enlist and select franchisees but in the majority of cases they cope with it within the business. If this is the case it is crucial that they recognise that they are not looking for a carbon copy of themselves. They are presumably confident entrepreneurs who have had the capability to go it alone. What they need to identify for their Franchise Opportunity is a somewhat toned down version. Someone with their skills and drive would almost certainly find it difficult to stay within the boundaries of the rules and would need a lot of maintenance in order to restrain him or her.

So the main criteria for the business to look for when identifying someone to take up their Franchise For Sale are as follows:

First and foremost acertain if they have the investment capabilities in line with your requirements. No matter how perfect the individual may seem if he hasn’t got the investment there is no point wasting time on him by getting into further discussion. This should be a qualifying question for your marketing plan. Whether you’re promoting on line, at a franchise exhibition or in the press do point out that there will be an investment required otherwise you can waste a lot of time merely getting rid of the enquirers who were unaware of the money involved.

Make sure that they have some related experience but ideally not in the exact sector that you operate in. If an individual has already been involved in a similar industry it can be very tricky to get them on board doing things your way. A lot of time can be taken up dealing with ideas that you have already thought about and rejected or that simply will not work for your franchise opportunity. The types of experiences that are likely to be useful to you will vary depending on your franchise sector but typically skills such as people management, sales skills and problem solving will fit in well with most franchise opportunities.

Finally make sure that you feel that you could work with the individual on a quite close basis. There is normally a lot of interaction with the franchisee, especially at the start of new territory and it may even be that you will be the person responsible for their training.

Even after going through this system it is highly unlikely that you will make the right decision for every franchisee that you appoint. It is therefore best before you start the process therefore that you have a strong mechanism for performance assessment and termination of contract so that you are not stuck with someone who clearly not right for your business.

There are a bunch of varying types of insurance a company should spend some money on and commercial liability coverage is among the most crucial. A business obtains this type of business liability insurance quote coverage for protection against being sued. As a company proprietor, you are held liable if anyone is hurt while on the property or whilst using your company’s wares. The injured party, or parties, may file a lawsuit to cover his or her doctor bills in addition to any and all time lost at work. It likewise covers you in the event that a company deal goes bad and the other person wants to sue for damages.

Liability insurance can be included as part of an entire insurance package that likewise includes other property coverage. Most insurance businesses allow for a discount on business general liability insurance if you purchase other types of insurance through their business. The amount of insurance that the company will require depends on the kind of business you have as well as which state the business is located.

For instance, a merchandising business will probably require additional liability coverage than a product manufacturing business, which might need product insurance. This would be because every customer that walks through the entryway is the source of possible legal issues. If the only individuals who spend a significant amount of their time at the business will be the employees, you might not be required to hold as much insurance.

Check with the business’s respective state to see what amount of coverage you are required to hold. Some make filing a lawsuit very easy for the hurt worker to make a case against the company and win! Should your company be located in one of those states, you will probably need to hold a larger policy.

It is vitally important that your business has business liability insurance. Because without it, you’re at high a risk of the business folding because of a lawsuit. Speak to the business insurance agent as they ought to have the ability to assist you in deciding just what amount of coverage the company needs to defend your company in the event of a lawsuit.

It’s hard to flip through a newspaper these days without reading about what experts from Moody’s Investor Service have to say. Comments can be read regarding real estate markets, financial products, economic trends, the auto industry and more. A Moody’s independent financial advisor is skilled in assessing bond and stock info to come up with an industry portrait that strives to minimize risk for investors. Even though these ratings are not always perfect and investment money may be lost, this 100-year-old company is still considered one of the gold standards in risk assessment today.

The primary job of Moody’s Investor Service is to provide ratings on stock products, bonds and financial commodities. Investors (either individuals or businesses) who wish to sink their dollars into something usually check the rating system first before deciding how much to invest or where to put their money. In addition to investment advisory services, Moody’s also “publishes investor oriented credit research, including in-depth research on major debt issuers, industry studies, special comments and credit opinion handbooks,” www.moodys.com reports. This information often affects buyer purchasing decisions, such as when to buy a new automobile, when to buy real estate or what sort of investments they should sell off.

Some people have argued for reform of Moody’s Investor Service and other rating agencies like it. “Ratings services still exert significant influence, if only because clients still adhere to old methodologies,” William H. Gross of the Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO) told the NY Times in an email. Some argue that a government advisory council should oversee the rating process, since, in the end, it is the government that winds up bailing out these failed financial institutions like Lehman Brothers. Others say the issuer-payer model that was introduced in the seventies needs to be eliminated because it’s a conflict of interest.

It appears that people everywhere have a tendency to love or hate Microsoft, and the company has certainly had some harsh criticism over the years, most likely due to its widespread control of the personal computer operating system for such a long time. Before it became fashionable and then in turn rather sensible to install a Mac operating system, people used to voraciously complain about the various idiosyncrasies of Microsoft’s Windows systems. It seemed that you were only getting used to a particular version and the Seattle-based company would trot out another. If you were thinking about buying a new PC, and you had a particular preference for one version of Windows, you often didn’t have any choice, because the new version would be automatically “bundled in” in the new computer.

Microsoft didn’t do much to assuage its many critics when it first released its Vista version of the Windows operating system – supposedly better, from someone’s point of view, than the popular XP version. As soon as it hit the public, there were a multitude of problems due to unavailability of necessary drivers or a complicated upgrading process. Application providers were slow to release drivers to work with Vista and the new OS came with a variety of annoying features and processes that made many wish they had stuck with their XP.

In the end of October, Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system was released, and the initial verdict is that it’s far superior to Vista and definitely a step in the right direction. Some individuals have even gone so far as to compare it favorably with Mac’s latest OSX version, which is absolutely fantastic news for Microsoft.

Windows 7 is quite a bit more secure than XP, whose users are square in the marketing crosshairs – as for the most part, they were the people who totally refused to upgrade to Vista. Even though Vista was toned down and made far more user-friendly during its “day in the sun,” the terrible press it received seemed to stick with it the whole time.

Windows 7 is much more efficient, requiring only half of the memory needed by Vista and it is much quicker to load on startup, also drawing less battery power on your laptop. Those who did not upgrade to Vista from XP will notice significant differences and will take a little while to get used to them, but those who went through the initial pain on Vista will see a much less clunky interface and one which makes the user feel that he or she is far less constrained to tabbing, resizing, fumbling around and the general “1990s” feel of previous incarnations.

For example, features such as Aero Snape allow you to put two applications side-by-side and copy and paste easily, Aero Peek makes windows that you’re not focusing on temporarily transparent and Aero Shake allows you to “shake” a window, thereby closing all others. In short, there’s a much more instantaneous action feel about the whole platform.

In recognition of the fact that homes now have multiple computers and that they should be linked together easily, Windows 7 has a great new networking feature called HomeGroup, enabling you to set up and share any number of files very easily, including access to printers.

It is true to say that Microsoft will find it very difficult to come up with a “perfect” operating system, due to the unbelievable legacy of programs, peripherals and hardware manufacturers reliant on “uncle Microsoft” to function. Windows 7 may not be pain free, but it is a much better product out of the box than Vista ever was.

Many financial advisory service professionals are aware that the need for their assistance is growing, although consumers are still a bit hesitant to spend. These independent advisors may be doing average business with their current clientele, but are not able to grow their businesses the way they’d like. Now is the ideal time to consider a Client Advisory Board to help an advisory group optimize their business model to become more client-centric and drum up additional business. There are many disgruntled clients coming from wire-houses and large stock firms who are looking for someone who values their best interests. There is no reason why that “someone” can’t be you.

Client Advisory Boards can take a look at marketing strategies to see where updates or improvements can be made. For instance, some of the most successful personal financial advisors are using Web 2.0 tools like social media sites and blogs. They also use online meeting software, provide webinars for their clients to learn financial terms and techniques, send personalized emails and provide online vaults. The board may recommend marketing techniques like brochures, seminars, webinars and newsletters. A good financial advisor will need to become increasingly more competitive in the years to come, considering the market for this profession is growing substantially, sending more and more advisors into the field.

Additionally, a Client Advisory Board will bring 8-10 clients into your management loop, which will bring your advisory business fresh insights and allow you to test out new products or services. Perhaps you were considering a promotion that would give existing clients a $100 gift card for new referrals or you were considering creating a newsletter to provide your clients with up-to-date stock info. Before implementing a business plan, consult your board first. The ideal CAB will consist of a diverse group of your favorite clients. At several short meetings, you’ll keep them informed on the latest developments and they’ll respond to surveys and advise you on marketing techniques that, from a client’s point of view, are most valuable. In return for their input, you may offer a small fee discount. Remember, if you treat these clients right, they can be a huge asset to you!

The saying “Two heads are better than one” is certainly true of a Client Advisory Board. In fact, most boards have eight members or so, who help their financial advisor make his business more client-friendly and productive. Here, with his own little test panel, he can run marketing practices and promotions past them, ask for valuable feedback on how to improve his services or products, and set an agenda for the upcoming year. Marketing often falls short of client expectations, so it’s important that a financial advisor include key clients into the decision making to increase referrals, bring more ideas to the table and ultimately, improve business.

First of all it is logical to be clear about just what a Franchise Opportunity gives you at it’s best. It allows you to run your own organisation in a specific sector to a tried and tested business model provided to you by the Franchisor. It should allow a sensible profit to be made and give you flexibility in your working life. So if you can identify the right franchise for you the rewards are certainly worthwhile. Going through the following process should help to make the decision about which franchise fits you a lot easier.

Firstly it is important to estimate how much money you are willing to invest. The cost of a franchise can range from a few thousand pounds to a hundreds of thousands of pounds and no matter how good the prospect looks there is no point wasting time even looking at those that you cannot manage to pay for. So rather like buying a new home, identify your budget and stick to it.

The second most crucial issue is to consider what you would like to do. What sectors appeal to you? Have you always loved working with the customers? If so then a franchise in a customer facing industry may be perfect for you. Remember, in the first instant you will be spending a large amount of your time working on your new business in order to give it the best possible start. It is therefore important that you select a field that you will be happy to work in and that will continue to excite you in subsequent years.

Now is the time to have a look at which Franchise For Sale actually meets your criteria so far. There may be one or several. Try to talk to current franchisees in other areas and also establish where your nearest colleague will be. The Franchise organisation may not always offer this information up but with use of the internet and local listing sites you should be able to get a good idea of the network as it stands at the moment. If all still looks well at this point the next stage is to explore the market that you have opted for.

Find out if there are any other Franchise organisations operating in your area with similar products or services, also establish how many independents offer the same. If possible try out these services or get hold of the products to give yourself a good idea what the competition is and if there is room to expand into.

With all these checks it is possible to find some niggles and worries. Don’t be too troubled if this does happen, especially in the number of businesses that appear to be in direct competition with the franchise that you are considering buying. Remember one of the main reasons for selecting a franchise in the first place is that the market, customers and sales strategy will have been tried, tested and proved. Marketing is generally strong and a recognised brand can frequently make your business first choice when up against a multitude of independent companies.
